Summary: | Competitiveness is an abstract concept that is not well understood by researchers but considered as a crucial concept by all researchers to improve nation or industry competitivenes. Based on Global Competitiveness Report 2019 Indonesia’s construction industry is at 71st, this is a bad indication of our construction industry competitiveness compared to other ASEAN countries like Singapore at 1st position and Malaysia at 35th. Therefore construction industry competitiveness model is needed to help Indonesia measure and improving their construction industry. Property sector has been taken as this thesis’s scope due to GDP on property sector has not improved significantly compared to general construction sector.
Stakeholders that included in this thesis are contractor, consultant, developer, and regulator. They are asked on their perception on competitiveness variables that compiled from literatures on Europe countries whether it is matched with Indonesia’s construction condition or not. Questionare has been used in this thesis to gathered data from respondents while conducting semi interview. Data is processed by the score average and coeffiient of variance on every variables. The data shows that 47% of the variables from the total of 96 variables or 46 variables is matched with Indonesia’s construction industry condition especially on property sector. From 9 factors on the hexagon model, 1 factor is less matched on Indonesia’s property sector, it is international activity. The stakeholders said that in property sector they are rarely interact with international layers.
Firm strategy and management is an important factor that have 17 variables out of 47 or 37% of all variables . Developed model in this thesis is an early identification on competitiveness model. There are many limitation on the model that can be improved on the next research as mentioned in this thesis.
