Description
Summary:Located in the subduction zone of Sumatra, the Mentawai Islands are one of the areas in Indonesia that are prone to earthquakes. Based on earthquake history data recorded by BMKG, one of the earthquakes that occurred in the Mentawai Islands, that is in October 2010, was 7.2 MW. One of the effects caused by the earthquake is the TEC anomali in the ionosphere layer. This study aims to analyze the variation of the TEC anomali when the Mentawai earthquake occurred on 25 October 2010. The TEC anomali value can be determined using GNSS observational data. In this study, GNSS observation data was used from 5 CORS stations scattered around the epicenter of the earthquake. GNSS data includes data from the days before an earthquake to a few days after the earthquake. Determination of TEC uses coded data from GNSS observations that utilize pseudorange differences between carrier waves (L-band). The results obtained from this study are the anomalies of STEC changes that occur when an earthquake is quite diverse, both when the anomali is detected and the value of the anomali. From stations and satellites that detect anomalies, anomalies occur in the 2-41 minutes after the earthquake, with a large value range of 0.3-1.4 TECU.
