When the production is stops for maintenance, O2 contamination is highly possible. The presence of O2 gas in the CO2 corrosion system can cause a significant increase in corrosion rate of the carbon steel pipe. However, the partial pressure of CO2 also affects the rate of corrosion. To understand the effect of O2 contamination and pressure on the CO2 corrosion, data were collected from various literatures related to the parameters used in the research was carried out. Data from the literatures suggested that the addition of O2 to the CO2 corrosion system caused a severe uniform corrosion on the steel surface. At high temperatures, the addition of O2 allowed a local corrosion. The pressure effect on the CO2 corrosion caused an increase of corrosion rate as a result of increased carbonic acid. To support this research, a high pressures electrochemical cell was made. This electrochemical cell can be used for the future test related to the temperature and pressure parameters. text
