However, the existing standard that is commonly used for basic water needs in Indonesia (120 liters/person/day) is not reliable anymore because these numbers are based on the conditions of Indonesia before 2000. Population growth, economic growth and climate change have contributed to increasing water consumption. Thus, the relevance of the standard for clean water needs needs to be reviewed. This study is conducted in Bandung Barat Regency with quantitative methods. The online questionnaire via Google Form (from June 15 to July 15, 2020) is used to collect the information related with the household water consumption with a minimum sample of 400 people. This study is conducted by using descriptive analysis and inference analysis. The results of the analysis show that the average household water consumption in West Bandung Barat Regency is 151.7±51.8 liters/person/day. This value is higher than the standard commonly used for planning water supply systems (120 liters/person/day). This is likely due to the lack of public awareness of the value of water, besides the corona virus outbreak has made most people have to do activities at home. Raw water sources (public and private) and socioeconomic conditions (economic level, education level, gender and age) are the water consumption factor under study. Based on Spearman Rho's analysis, it is known that the water source and socio-economic aspects of the respondents significantly influence household water consumption. This research is expected to be useful in assisting the government in determining the planning of water supply systems in the future. text |
