Description
Summary:Abstract :

An investigation on repeated infection of Helicoverpa armigera Nuclear Polyhedrosis Virus (HaNPV) to Helicoverpa armigera was carried out to study its effect on the infection tolerance, growth and food consumption of the larvae. The study indicates that H. armigera that repeatedly exposed to HaNPV infections tend to develop tolerance against HaNPV. Although the LD 50 `value of the exposed larve is not significantly different to the unexposed, the growth and food consumption of the exposed larvae were significantly higher compared to that of unexposed. Further investigation indicates that the release of viral exposure led to the reduction of tolerance of H. armigera from HaNPV infection. Although the LD 50 value of the exposed larve is not significantly different to the H. armigera that experienced the release of viral exposure, the growth and food consumption of the exposed larvae were significantly higher compared to the larvae that experienced the release of viral exposure.
