Alzheimer's and dementia are the progressive impairments of physical decline in the brain that affects a person’s brain functions. As a disease that affects the brain, it is clear that people with Alzheimer's and dementia have different characteristics and behaviors that require special attention. The design of this care center accommodates the needs and addresses the weaknesses of Alzheimer's and dementia patients who are treated long term and short term. The goal of this Alzheimers and Dementia Care Center project is to design a building that can facilitate patient therapy and create a care center that can help improve the quality of life for people with Alzheimers and dementia. The main function of the building is therapy and medication, as well as a living space. The design of the care center is on an area of 4393m², in J. Ir. Hj. Djuanda, Dago Atas, Bandung. This care center accommodates both short term care and long term care patients with a total of 40 beds. Because this building is devoted to people with Alzheimers and dementia who are mostly elderly, issues to consider in the design include orientation and wayfinding, social interaction between patients, familiarity, safety, and universal design. The building consists of three main masses, namely two residential houses and one main building, which is surrounded by various gardens and equipped with courts for the activities of its residents.
