Description
Summary:The high price of motion capture systems on the market has led few hospitals, health agencies and rehabilitation centers to use them for financial reasons. This is unfortunate considering that the motion capture system can provide quantitative data showing the characteristics of a person's gait. The ITB Biomechanical Research Team has been trying to develop an affordable and portable motion capture system since 2002. The motion capture system that has been developed needs to be evaluated for the accuracy of the results before they are ready to be marketed. In this study, the accuracy of 3D gait analysis system of the ITB Biomechanics Team against Vicon 3D gait analysis system is evaluated. Adjustment of data collection conditions is necessary considering that the two gait analysis systems have different gait analysis processes but still have to be done simultaneously. Evaluation of this accuracy was done by comparing the results of spatio-temporal parameters and angular kinematics parameters with a scale of one cycle of walking motion for each leg. Accuracy comparisons are performed using the results of Vicon 3D gait analysis system as guidelines. Based on the results of the accuracy evaluation, ITB Biomechanics Team’s gait analysis system already has a fairly high accuracy in calculating the spatio-temporal parameter but is still not good enough in calculating kinematic parameter of the joint angle.
