PT X is a consulting firm based in Bandung. Currently, PT X is experiencing difficulties in carrying out their core business processes as indicated by the symptom of delay in project completion up to 30% of total projects a year. The root cause of this problem is inadequate information system used in PT X to monitor data. To solve this problem, PT X decided to develop a tailor-made software. Along with the progress of the information system development project, user’s demand is increasing widely and resulting in expansion of the project scope to cover all of PT X’s business functions. This study aims to design an ERP based information system that is widely available in the market and relatively fast to design. The design of the ERP system will next be compared to the tailor-made system that is developed for PT X based on several criteria to measure the performance of each information system. Several models and frameworks have been developed to determine the evaluation criteria for an information system. In this study, the comparison between ERP and tailor-made system is based on the criteria model created by Joel Palmius.
