In developing the seismic code, all of those analyses are interconnected. Due to many uncertainties involved, the analyses should be performed systematically such that it would accomplish reliable result. <br /> This thesis is to analyze seismic risk for Java region and microzonation for Jakarta. It will be performed in four phases, i.e. collecting and processing earthquake data, assessing seismic risk and analyzing soil dynamic response. The first phase (collecting and processing earthquake) consists of collecting earthquake events, developing empirical relationship magnitude conversion for Indonesia region, analyzing dependency of earthquake data, and analyzing catalog completeness. The second phase is seismic risk analysis that is performed to obtain characteristics of ground motion at base rock such as maximum acceleration and target response spectra for various return periods. The analysis consists of selecting source zone, seismic hazard parameters study, selecting appropriate attenuation function, calculating of seismic risk and developing synthetic ground motion. The third phase is soil dynamic respons analysis that includes soil dynamic parameters and one-dimensional shear wave propagation analysis on selected points in Jakarta. Eventually, the objective of this study is to obtain iso-acceleration contour map, iso-amplification contour map and response spectra analysis. text
