Current practice of safety analytic has been relying predominantly on evaluating aggregated data of lagging indicators about past accidents, such as accident frequencies. This method has been negatively driving the organization to carry out repetitive cycle of accident analysis and undertaking reactive responses. Meanwhile, mine hazards, which were considered as the leading indicator of accidents, have been extensively collected through Beats application. Despite this, hazards have not been fully used to leverage the safety analytic other than as aggregate report. Therefore, the final project explored and investigated how statistical process control, in particular control charts, can be applied to hazards data, to detect statistically trends in safety process and safety behavior, aiming to improve safety performance of Lati Mine Operation. The study of Loss Causation Model of accident was used as approach to transitioning the safety analytic into leading indicator analysis. The underlying reasoning of the use of hazards was to exercise control on process inputs rather than the outputs of safety process. Meanwhile, the purpose of control chart usage was to eliminate special causes variations in order to create a predictable safety process in mining operation. Three distinctive benefits of the control chart implementation to hazards in mining operation have been identified as the result of the final project. The most distinctive benefit is how the organization can evaluate the process in continues manner rather than retrospectively in aggregate quantities. The company benefits from a timely intervention once signal is triggered rather than waiting until the end period of aggregation report. Secondly, the company transition its analytic into leading indicator analysis. It helps the company to exercise the safety intervention before any severe accident occurred, In other words, it can be used as a control tool for accident prevention. Lastly, accompanied by the Out of Control Action Plan framework, the control charts implementation actively bring the safety process into statistical control condition, which enhancing the continues improvement process in the organization. text
