Summary: | The quality and quantity of rice is influenced by the farming process and the palnting
technique. Organic rice is held by organic treatment which is friendly with nautre. The
success of organic farming is based on its soil quality which mean the ecology balance. The
key of soil ecosystem balancing touches essential soil capability, plant, land animal, and
microorganisms. Organic farming in rice several ways to applied such as liquid organic
fertilizer utilize black soldier fly metabolism and addition plant that is Azolla pinnata which
floates upon the surface of the water and gains nitrogen from the air. The advantages of
liquid organic fertilizer aplication in plant are fertilize plants, maintain nutrient stability,
reduce the impact of environmental organic waste, and revitalize soil productivity. Azolla
pinnata has a mutualism symbiosis with Anabaena azollae to fix atmospheric nitrogen
which then used by plant become green manure to fulfill nitrogen needs of the crops. This
research aims to examine the effect of adding liquid organic fertilizer and the association
between rice plant and Azolla pinnata as a nitrogen fixing agent on the growth and
development of rice, productivity and soil quality. This research utilize local rice of
Sumedang by randomize block design with six treatments such as liquid organic fertilizer
only with consentration of 5%, 10% and 15%, and than liquid organic fertilizer with each
consentrartion adding Azolla pinnata association with consentration of 5 tons per hectar.
The conclusions obtained from this study are, the best plant height was obtained at
treatments C1 is 106,62 cm and C3 is 105.52 cm; for the root area ratio in the treatment
C1 of 2.1; shoot root ratio at C1 which is 3.76 and CA2 which is 3.91; the number of grains
per panicle in CA3 is 141; and the number of rice grains in CA2 is 2176 with 89.88%
filled out in a clumps of plants. The composition of the best treatment for rice productivity
is the application of 10% of liquid organic fertilizer and the addition of Azolla pinnata
(CA2) with yield productivity of 8.66 Tons / Ha. The changes in soil quality after
application of liquid organic fertilizer and Azolla pinnata during the process of rice
cultivation (Oryza sativa) is at C-organic by 0.26%; K2O of 32.38 mg / 100 gram;
cation K of 0.22 cmol / kg; Ca cation of 1.45 cmol.kg; cation Mg of
10.94 cmol / kg; and base saturation of 48.81%.
