The samples with its optimum bitumen content, were subjected to water vapor test to see the durability index of asphalt concrete mix. Four types of test were carried out, i.e. Marshall immersion test (for 30 minutes and 24 hours), immersion test in water at room temperature, cyclic water vapor test, and the water vapor and water at open area condition.

Because of the influence of cyclic water vapor at test condition above, Marshall test was done to determine the stability and to obtain the index of retained strength which shown the durability index of asphalt concrete at cycle of 10, 20, 40 and 80 days.

The results of experiment in laboratory showed that index of _ retained strength and durability index at cyclic water vapor test were closest to ideal durability pattern and more significant than the Marshall immersion test, the immersion test in water and water vapor and water influence at open area condition. So the result of cyclic water vapor infiltration might be used as test for durability assessment of bituminous mixtures. The second index durability of mixtures with stone dust and steel dust for the cyclic water vapor test were 10.84 % and 9.36 %, for the immersion test in water were 6.5 % and 17.41% and for water vapor and water influence at open area condition were -12,01% and 2.86 %. text
