Description
Summary:Palm oil is one of the most widely produced commodities in Indonesia. As a large commodity, optimum production from plantation is an important factor and has the potential to generate huge profits as well. Optimal production is certainly influenced by the fertilization of the oil palm plant itself. But as of now, fertilization relies on laboratory tests that are time consuming, expensive, and several physical variables that cannot be observed. This problem was the origin of the idea for a tool that could take in-situ measurements directly on oil palm plantations and provide farmers with fertilizer recommendations so that oil palm plants can grow and produce optimal results. To facilitate enforcement in large areas, of course, sending data wirelessly can help monitoring and enforcement quickly without the need to explore the vast area of plantations. Therefore, GPRS data transmission can simplify the monitoring process, knowing the availability of certain facilities around the oil palm area concerned. With minimal electricity supply in the field, independent resources are the main source of products. Therefore, power management is very important for the lifespan of the tool.
