Description
Summary:According to the United Nations Convention on the Law of the Sea (UNCLOS) 1982, the continental shelfs defined as the seabed and suboil of the area below sea level that outside the territorial sea, along the continuation of natural land to the outer periphery edge of the continental, or up to a distance of 200 nautical miles from the baselines. Determination of the outer limit of the continental shel requires measurement of the position of the foot of slope. The measurement of the foot of slope is part of a series in determining the continental shelf of more than 200 nautical miles. The method that used in this study are identify the morphological ridge or slope around the boundaries of the Exclusive Economic Zone, then determine the coordinates of the Foot of Slope which are then plotted into a Foot of Slope line. The result of this study contains 33 point coordinates are indicated as the Foot of Slope that forms a Foot of Slope boundary in the south region of Nusa Tenggara Island.
