| Summary: | Schizophrenia is a severe mental disorder characterized by hallucinations and
delusions in which it is difficult for them to distinguish reality. Schizophrenia
literally means 'a divided mind/spirit'. People with schizophrenia have
communication difficulty, cognitive impairment, and are hampered from carrying
out daily activities. Schizophrenics have difficulty differentiating between internal
and external stimuli due to hallucinations and delusions, so their behaviours are
difficult to understand and creates negative stigma. One result of the stigma being
labelled is discrimination in employment.
The purpose of this study is how this schizophrenic mental experience can be
understood by the public by applying the results of those mental experiences and
stories from people with schizophrenia into the textiles with surface textile in
casual business dress. Schizophrenia is easily misunderstood; therefore, this
research is expected to create public awareness of this mental disorder and
create a healthier environment for all.
