Summary: | PT. LKOC (Lancang Kuning OIl Company) is one of the largest companies in Indonesia which
is engaged in oil and gas. In managing this field, PT. LKOC has a Production Sharing Contract
(PSC) with the Indonesian government. One of the largest fields included in the production
sharing contract is Ridu field which is included in the scope of the Kanro block until August
2021. This Ridu Field is one of the largest steam injection fields in the world.
One of the teams in PT. LKOC is Asset Optimization Team which is tasked to maintain the
production level and arrest the production decline. Considering the production sharing contract
that will expire in August 2021, PT. LKOC did not choose to invest in drilling new wells to
maintain the level of oil production because it is not economical with this very short period of
time. For this reason, PT. LKOC chose the path for optimization in servicing of wells through
workover and well service to maintain the level of oil production. In addition, PT. LKOC has
another effort to maintain production by reducing the amount of lost well production (LPO)
which has a very high number.
In this research, the writer addressed the problem of very high LPO numbers and looks for the
best solution to reduce the level of LPO in PT LKOC. The why tree and Focus Group
Discussion (FGD) are used to find the root cause of higher LPO numbers. The less effective
sand control method is a potential cause of this problem. In the research methodology to find
a solution, first the authors collect data which will then be used in identifying alternative sand
control methods. The criteria in this study are the price of the well service, the oil gain, the
success rate in installation, and the effectiveness of the pump damage level. All of these criteria
and alternatives resulted from focus group discussion with stakeholders.
In making alternative choices, the authors use the Analytic Hierarchy Process (AHP) as a
structured method for analyzing alternatives. The best alternative is chosen as an effective sand
control method to reduce oil production loss. The sand control pump screen method is rated as
the most effective method of suppressing very high LPO in Ridu field. In addition, the result
of implementation the pump screen can reduce the LPO number from average 2,098 BOPD to
1,747 BOPD and improve the oil production 1,000 BOPD above from the estimation. |
