Description
Summary:PT Dasindo Media Surabaya is a family business that manages the Surabaya Dale Carnegie franchise business. Starting from 2017 until now, Dale Carnegie Surabaya faces succession planning threats at transferring process leadership and ownership to the heirs. This threat is characterized by the current behavior of leaders who do not shape their employees to become independent, causing the employee's low ability to make strategic decisions and the emergence of symptoms of employee demotivation characterized by high absenteeism (delays, sudden leave, sickness, and permission) in this company. That condition created sales decrease since 2015. Employee problems and sales decrease, make obstacles in the transition process from the owner to the successor, and a challenge for successors at the transition process. This study seeks to find the root cause of the business issues and aims to improve it that's why the transition from owner to successor can run smoothly. Business Succession Planning (BSP) is the foundation to analyze questionnaire results and interview data in this study. This study uses 7 BSP dimensions. Then the dimensions were developed into 45 interview questions and 18 questionnaire statements involving twenty-five employees of PT Dasindo Media as respondents and two company owners as resource persons. According to data analysis result, this study indicates that there is one dimension that belongs to the bad dimension category, namely the Family Vision dimension so needs to be changed to recover business conditions. On the other hand, the dimensions of the Business Strategic Plan and Leadership Transition belongs to poor category dimensions, and need a major improvement. Therefore this study provides three alternative solutions namely Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, Daily Scrum, and Corporate Repository. Cognitive Behavioral Therapy is the recommended solution since the solution will be focus on the disruptive behavior and mitigate those wrong assumption.
