Summary: | Indonesia is an archipelago country, has a large area from Sabang to Merauke. Consisting of
more than 17,500 large and small islands, and about 62% of them are oceans, therefore
Indonesia is known as the archipelago. Covering 300 very diverse ethnic groups. In various
areas, the people of the archipelago developed their Nusantrian culture according to their
different socio-cultural backgrounds so that various regional arts were formed, one of which
was the archipelago ornamental arts. Nusantara ornament is a variety of decoration for an
object, which has a strong meaning in connection with customs and traditions which are
basically a dress or beauty that is combined and has a complex visual composition.
Unfortunately, the archipelago decorations or ornaments that developed in some areas could
not last long, some of them died and were forgotten because they had begun to be abandoned.
At the same time, the development of technological innovations in the application of every
aspect of life is getting more advanced. When everyone is more sensitive to the importance of
combining science with technology under the pretext of modernization. One example of
technological developments in the world of textiles is E-Textile (Electronic Textile), which is
now a problem solving in the realm of functionality and aesthetics for craft products applied
both in fashion and interior.
This exploration project seeks to renew and make new innovations for the realization of
applied craft work in Indonesia by combining textile craft science with exploration
techniques that focus on the stylization of archipelago ornaments, laser cut techniques,
several surface textile exploration techniques as well as electronic scientific exploration,
namely a series of LEDs circuits. to become an E-Textile interior craft work that combines
visual urgency as well as functionality as a problem solving problem of the lack of artificial
lighting and center of interest in the aesthetic realm for a hotel lobby from the case studies
raised. |
