Tusam resin is widely used as an impregnant to improve the quality of oil palm trunk, while surian wood contains surenon, surenin, and surquinone as insect repellent substances. Both of these materials have potential as fillers to increase the durability of oil palm trunks. This research aimed to determine the optimum concentration of impregnants from sawdust and extract of surian wood with tusam resin toward drywood termites, subterranean termites, and weather resistance for oil palm trunk. The research method used the experimental method of impregnation technology using two different impregnants, a mixture of surian wood extract with tusam resin and tusam resin with surian wood sawdust. There were four variations of the impregnant concentration for each treatments that are mixture of surian wood with 0% (ER0), 4% (ER1), 6% (ER2), 8% (ER3) tusam resin extract and tusam resin with 0% (RS0), 4% (RS1), 6% (RS2), 8% (RS3) surian wood sawdust. Each treatment was carried out three replications. The experimental design used a CRD with one factor using DMRT test analysis as post-hoc test. The results shown that ER2 and SR3 treatments was the optimum concentration of impregnant used for oil palm trunk impregnation based on the durability of drywood termites and subterranean termites resistance, while ER0 and SR0 treatments based on the durability of weather resistance. text
