Summary:There is population increased of elderly population in Indonesia. That makes Indonesia become one of ageing population country in the world. The increased of elderly population accompanied by the increased of elderly’s problem. One of the elderly’s main problem is generation gap that makes elderly become lonely and solitude. Generation gap has become a problem since a long time and give negative impact to elderly and children. Elderly cannot interact well with children and that makes elderly feel lonely. The loneliness can make elderly feel no longer needed by society. Because of that, this research aims to analyze the problems between elderly and children. The problem can be used as a standard to make an activity that can help elderly and children to interacted. The research methodology that be used in this research is qualitative method with ethnographic design approach. This method can let researcher being part of the object research to analyze the problem between elderly and children. From the research, can be known that generation gap happend because children were isolated from elderly. That’s make children feel anxious and didn’t want to interacted to elderly. Because of that, there is held an experiment in the form of an activity that can bring the elderly and children closer. The activity that be used is storytelling that can make elderly to sharpen their mind, express feelings, and have a warm interaction with children. The experiment was held twice in an education foundation with a few differences. From the experiment, can be known that storytelling and storytelling space can be used effectively as an activites that bring elderly and children closer. The difference in the layout of interior, storytelling aids, and how the elderly tell stories in storytelling program determines success of making interaction between children and elderly in storytelling space. The interactive layout of interior, the fun way of storytelling that elderly do, and the interactive storytelling aids can make a warm interaction between children and elderly storyteller, and vice versa.
