THE ANALYSIS OF PRODUCTIVITY LEVEL OF TEA (CAMELLIA SINENSIS (L.) KUNTZE) USING BIOECONOMIC APPROACH AT PT PERKEBUNAN NUSANTARA VIII KERTAMANAH ESTATE, WEST JAVA

Tea (Camellia sinensis (L.) Kuntze) is a plant that can be consumed to nourish the body. Indonesia places the top seventh-biggest tea producer in the world with total tea production reachs 140,236 tons from a total land area of 109,935 hectares (2018). As much as 70% of national tea production comes...

Indonesia places the top seventh-biggest tea producer in the world with total tea production reachs 140,236 tons from a total land area of 109,935 hectares (2018). As much as 70% of national tea production comes from West Java, in which one of them is supplied from PT Perkebunan Nusantara VIII (PTPN VIII) Kertamanah Estate. However, the productivity level of tea often decreases from year to year. The analysis of productivity level of tea through a bioeconomic approach is necessary so that both biological and economic decision-making processes can be achieved. A case study approach was carried out with descriptive and quantitative analysis. The data obtained includes annual climate reports, production yields, land area, input and output values, which are processed by statistics, Maximum Sustainable Yield (MSY) function, and Craig - Harris Productivity Model. Biological growth characteristics of tea plants use seedling and cutting clones, with an average annual rainfall of 2579 mm, air temperature 23.78º C, relative humidity 77.71%, and long sun exposure 5 hour. Tea plant production factors which include land area (X1), wet production (X2), rainfall (X3), air temperature (X4), relative humidity (X5), and long sun exposure (X6) are modeled in multiple linear regression: Y = -2180,950 + 1,298 X1 + 0,029 X2 + 0,029 X3 - 69,295 X4 + 24,706 X5 + 107,458 X6 + ?. The maximum sustainable yield function model is hMSY = (4022.7 x E) - (68.216 x (E2)), with EMSY = 29.485 days, then obtained hMSY = 59,304 ton. The total productivity level of the tea plant in Kertamanah Estate was 1.9, while from bioeconomics approach the value was 13.09. This means that the tea plants in Kertamanah Estate are underproduction. text
