Summary: | PT. ABC is a company in the automotive manufacturing industry. Employees at PT. ABC have no motivation to learn on their own, but only to meet the needs of the company. PT. ABC always tries to find the right solution to these problems, considering that knowledge is an important asset to support productivity of the company. Knowledge storing has also become important to prevent it from losing and have the knowledge developed, as generation X employees have entered retirement age. Therefore, the aim of this research is to identify the factors that influence effective knowledge management system for each generation.
In the research model, there are 3 main factors driving the effectiveness of knowledge management, namely : infrastructural capabilities, management and organizational support, and process capabilities. The research method used is qualitative research. Data is collected using written interview method. The results of the interviews are then analyzed using thematic analysis method to produce codes and categories. The problems which appear from the results of the interview transcript analysis are used to design solution for each generation.
The results of the interview transcript analysis show that in generation X, there is one variable in the research model that has no influence on the effectiveness of knowledge management, which is non-monetary incentives. In generation Y and generation Z, all variables in the research model have an influence on the effectiveness of knowledge management. In generation X, generation Y, and generation Z, effective knowledge management has influenced on all variables, namely : improve communication, enhanced collaboration, improve employee skill, better decision making, and improve productivity.
The problems that occurred the most from the results of the interview transcript analysis is the access policy so that the proposed solution design is the creation of business process oriented Knowledge Management (bpoKM) which can limit employees to only be able to access knowledge that is related to the business process they are doing. It also helps company to maintain data security. In order
to use bpoKM, company needs to provide training for generation X and Y, but not for generation Z.
