Summary: | Feed has the greatest contribution in catfish farming. Currently, fish farmers use commercial feed which is quite expensive. Black Soldier Fly (Hermetia illucens) larvae have potential as an alternative fish feed which is expected to reduce the production costs of Sangkuriang catfish production. BSF larvae has the ability to produce biomass with high protein content from the organic waste they consume. The purpose of this study was to evaluated BSF larvae as an alternative feed for Sangkuriang catfish (Clarias gariepinus) by proximate analysis. The experiment was conducted in Jati Endah, Cilengkrang, Bandung. The fishes were given BSF larvae meal that mixed with Hi Pro Vite commercial feed in the size of 781-1 and 781-2 as the feed. Ten one month old fishes were reared in a 60 L plastic bucket, then were given mixed feed that contains BSF larvae meal in the percentage of 25%, 50%, 75%, and 0% as control treatment with 6 replications each. The fishes were reared for 58 days with 6% feeding dosage each day . The nutritional in catfish meat was calculated using proximate analysis based on procedure of Association of Analytical Communities. The result show that mixed feed with 25% BSF larvae tends to produce the highest protein and lowest fat in catfish’s meat. From this research it can be concluded that BSF larvae can be used as an alternative feed for Sangkuriang catfish.
