Seeing these conditions, the leaf morphometric (symmetrical) response of the species Rhizophora apiculata and Avicennia marina, as species that grow in the area, can be used as one of the biological parameters to indicate the strength of mangroves to withstand environmental stress in the form of toxic hydrocarbons (PAH). contained in petroleum. Leaf morphometrics can be seen in two ways, namely, by looking at the percentage of the number of morphometrics formed or the spread (diversity) of the morphometric values. The purpose of this study was to estimate the ability of mangrove species to withstand hydrocarbon stress by comparing the morphometric values between Rhizophora apiculata and Avicennia marina. The results showed the absorption ability of PAH R. apiculata (67.39%) and A. marina (57.38%), and respectively, 51% and 57.38% of the morphometric values of the two species fell into the normal range. Judging from the scattering value, A. marina has a greater value (16.6%) than R. apiculata (15.7%). Based on a life level, the percentage of R. apiculata that falls into the normal range is 55.6% (adults) and 46.4% (young), and A. marina 55.5% (adults) and 58.2% (young) , with each diversity value of 15.41% (adult) and 16.01% (young) for R. apiculata and 20.38% (adults) and 12.77% (young) for A. marina. In general, although A. marina shows a higher value than R. apiculata, the difference in morphometric values between the two species is relatively small. Thus, it can be concluded that there is no significant difference in the morphometric values of the two species, because the difference between both values are relatively close, and is not influenced by life level, therefore, the final results of the study indicate that the two species have the same abilities. strong in supporting hydrocarbon stress, so that the two species can be recommended as phytoremediation agents, especially in this area of study. text
