Description
Summary:<b>Abstract :</b><p align="justify">Artocarpus, one of the main genus of Moraceae is known as a rich source of phenolic compounds especialily prenylated flavonoids with a variety of structural types and bioactivities. In the previous investigation from the stems and the root bark of Artocarpus altilis, isocyclomorusin, isocyclomulberrin, cyclomorusin, cyclomulberrin, cyckloaltilisin, morusin, artonin E, and artonin V have been isolated. In this continuing study on the heartwood of this plant, we have isolated four prenylated flavones derivative compounds, cycloartocarpin, artoindonesianin B, artocarpin, and chaplasin from hexane and benzene fractions and one stilbene derivative compound namely trans-4-(3-metil-E-but-l-enyl)-3,5,2',4'-tetrahydroxystilbene from the methanol extract. The structure of these compounds were elucidated based on UV, IR, 1H-NMR and 13C-NMR spectroscopic analysis. Artocarpin exhibited highgest toxic activity among others these five compounds against Artemia sauna.
