Information media is important in providing education to increase public awareness of disaster risks. The researchers aim to investigate the impact of the elements of information media design and how they can be perceived and raise public awareness on tsunamis. The research process uses two methods, the qualitative and quantitative (sequential exploratory), by conducting a descriptive analysis of the design of information media through design elements. Based on data sample taken through FGD, the data were interpreted, translated and categorized based on the principles of Gestalt theory to obtain visual perception, and the FGD results in an instrument for large population studies (quantitative). The quantitative analysis with Chi- Square testing, was performed to see the results of statistical calculations using the limit of significance (?) = 0.05 with 95% CI, while the criteria for the relationship were determined based on value. The results of the assumptions prove that: Information Media that applies design elements makes a significant difference to people's understanding. In the context of Gestalt perceptions, researchers found that information media have different perceptions because people tend to see the visual of design elements in seeking understanding of information media. The results of the analysis show Ha1 is Accepted: A total of 5 types of media were tested, resulting in a p value ? 0.05, and there is a significant correlation between the information media and the level of public awareness on tsunamis after seeing the information media. This study recommends improving the design of information media on the application of design elements that affect people's visual perceptions, as well as improving the design of information media that focuses on visual content of tsunami mitigation based on disaster zones. text |
