This study aims at investigating the relationship between Clean and Healthy Life Behavior (PHBS) and the quality of clean water with the prevalence of waterborne disease in Al Ma'soem Boarding School, West Java. The PHBS in the study focuses on washing hands with soap, cleaning room and bathroom, and consuming clean and healthy food. Water quality and PHBS data are obtained through questionnaires, interviews, and water quality laboratory tests. Data analysis is performed with descriptive statistics and analytical statistic on association determination. The incidence of waterborne disease in the scope of this study are diarrhea and typhoid. The lack of awareness by students to maintain the cleanliness of the environment and themselves can lead to diarrhea and typhoid. Diarrhea is one of the diseases that often occur, whereas typhoid rarely occurs in Al Ma'soem Boarding School. The prevalence determinants of diarrhea and typhoid fever includes washing hands with soap, cleaning rooms and bathrooms, water quality, and consuming clean food. The results of the calculation of the odds ratio and Chi-Square test, for the prevalence of typhoid fever are influenced by washing hands with soap (OR of male to female = 6.28, p = 0.01; OR of SHS to JHS= 6.31, p = 0, 0047). The prevalence of diarrhea was influenced by cleaning the bathroom (OR male to female = 2.57, p= 0.001), food consumption outside the Al Ma'soem area (OR male to female = 6.89, p = 0.009), and washing hands using soap (OR male to female = 5.53, p = 3x10-6; OR SHS to JHS = 29.36, p = 1x10-17). text |
