New polyurethane foams derived from aren sap sugar with polyethylene glycol (PEG) and toluene-2,4-diisocyanate (TDI) were synthesized successfully. The sugar has prepared by Luff Schoorl method. Furthermore, extracted sugar with variety of concentration was added into PEG and TDI solution, stirred to constant speed for 6-8 minutes to form polyurethane foams. The urethane linkages were observed by FTIR spectra in 1723.86 cm<sup>-1</sup>, 1722.22 cm<sup>-1</sup>and 3300 cm<sup>-1</sup> areas. Thermal properties have studied using differential thermal analysis (DTA) and thermogravimetric analysis (TGA), showed that the products are thermoset materials. X ray diffratogram showed decreasing in degree of cyrstalinity because increasing in sugar concentration. The surface texture analysis of the foams was studied using scanning electron microscopy (SEM), and also esthablishing of foam density has conducted. |
