This extract has various benefits, including anti-aging. The main problem arising from the use of this extract is the change in color to brown (browning) which is the result of the oxidation reaction of o-diphenols into o-quinone. This study aims to prevent the browning process of edelweiss extract in toner formulations with the strategy of adding antioxidant as reducing agent and surfactant to form micelle. The addition of antibrowning agents used are a combination of vitamin C, cysteine and vitamin E. The study used experimental methods at extract characterization and preliminary test; and library search at the optimization of edelweiss extract toner preparations. The toner formulation approach is carried out with a nanoemulsion system. Toner preparation is done by the phase inversion method. The water phase is added slowly into the oil phase so that the water in oil phase (W /O) will slowly become oil in water (O / W). Characterization is done by determining the particle size, zeta potential value, polydispersity index and physicochemical parameters of the active ingredients used. The stability of the preparation was tested by storage in a 40-45 o C climatic chamber, room temperature and in 4 o C. The optimal formulation design obtained from library search consists of; edelweiss extract 0,5-2% ; vitamin E 0,002 ?0,05% ; vitamin C 0,005 ?0,4% ; cysteine 0,004 ?0,1% ; Cremophor RH 40 0,5 ?4% ; Labrasol 0,25 ?4%; allantoin 0,095 ?1% ; butylene glycol 2 - 8% ; sodium EDTA 0,25-1% and added with distilled water up to 100%. text
