Description
Summary:Currently, the generation that is being talked about a lot is Generation Z, where this generation is the generation that will start entering the world of work. The oldest age of Generation Z is currently 25 years old, some of them have started to enter college, are currently studying at both private and public universities, and some are starting to enter the world of work. In Indonesia, the number of people currently studying at private universities is 206,112 people. Generation Z is known as the first generation to grow up with mobile phones and smartphones. Generation Z has different motivations, views, and expectations from previous generations. This difference certainly creates different needs between generations within the company. The purpose of this study was to determine the preference for organizational characteristics of Generation Z. Furthermore, this study was also to determine whether there were differences in organizational characteristics based on gender in Generation Z. This study used descriptive and statistical analysis using software (IBM SPSS 21) which analyzed 682 of all private university respondents. Based on descriptive analysis, the authors found that Generation Z has the organizational characteristics they most want in the workplace conditions and security characteristics such as a workplace that protects health and safety, obtaining supporting facilities and a comfortable work space. Furthermore, the results of statistical analysis relating to differences in organizational characteristics based on gender from Generation Z, the authors found that there are significant differences in Generation Z in all aspects of organizational characteristics studied. The organizational characteristics they most want, both men and women, they have the same priority but women score higher than men, namely workplace conditions and security, good environment, and financial incentives. Therefore, to welcome this young generation well, organizations need to provide attractive offers in considering the preferences of this generation. In addition, companies also need to be aware of environmental developments, especially technology and lifestyle trends.
