COUPLING BETWEEN INVISCID PANEL METHOD AND INTEGRAL BOUNDARY LAYER EQUATIONS AND ITS APPLICATION IN OPTIMIZING AIRFOIL SHAPE UNDERGRADUATE THESIS

Analysis and design of airfoil are one of the most important parts in the process of design and development of fluid-related products such as aircraft, wind turbines, fast cars, and other products. This analysis process can be carried out experimentally or computationally. The development of computa...

This analysis process can be carried out experimentally or computationally. The development of computational methods for fast and easy airfoil analysis has been done to save costs and time. One of them is the Viscous-Inviscid Interaction (VII) method. This method divides the fluid into 2 domains, namely the inviscid domain and the viscous domain. The inviscid domain solution will be structured using the potential developed into the panel method. The viscous domain around the airfoil surface will be solved by solving the boundary-layer integral equation. The two domain solutions will affect each other so that there will be several interactions until convergent conditions can be achieved. Airfoil optimization process will be conducted by using the developed code. text
