Description
Summary:Nowadays, information technology is rapidly evolving and affects a wide range of daily activities. One of the most influential developments in information technology is the Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) system. The ERP system can help companies integrate information flow and business processes between corporate divisions, making the company's operations more effective and efficient. As one of the companies engaged in the distribution of household plastic goods, PD X uses a software to help its operations. However, the software does not integrate the entire business process of the company. Therefore, a research was conducted in the form of designing an ERP-based information system to solve the problems at PD X. This research uses open source ERP software that is free to use. The design of the ERP system in the study uses a methodology that combined the Full Lifecyle ERP Adoption Reference (FLEAR) Model and the Framework for the Application of System Thinking (FAST). The steps taken in the research include analysis of the problems that are followed by the identification of the company's system needs and business processes. After that, an open source ERP software selection is performed to select the ERP software on which the solution design base is designed. Then, based on the identified system needs and business processes of the company, the appropriate ERP modules are selected, and the proposed business process based on the selected module are mapped. The output of this research is an open source ERP prototype that uses purchasing, inventory, sales, invoicing, and dashboards modules. The design of the open source ERP system and its prototype are then verified and validated by the company to see if the results of the research are in accordance with the . This research shows that ERP systems can eliminate wasteful processes, reduce paper usage and manual processes, and help the company in monitoring their operations through the integration and automation of business processes.
