There are two cases of simulation in this study, the first one is when the coupling is engaged and the other one is when the coupling is disengaged. The power coefficient of engaged coupling simulation was compared to the power coefficient of disenganged coupling simulation which have already been validated. ANSYS Fluent version 16 have been validated so it can be used to simulate combination wind turbine. The result of the simulation after the coupling mechanism is added shows an increase in power coefficient as mush as 9.3% on tip speed ratio 3, which is from 0.2761 to 0.3020. The coupling mechanism added on this research is selected with weighted decision matrix where the weight distribution was made with hierarchy tree. The scoring shows that the over-run clutch as the best coupling mechanism to be added to the combination wind turbine with the total score 4.45 from maximum score 5. text |
