Summary:Oil Palm plantaions are one of the most abundant plantaion in Indonesia, because oil palm is a very profitable corps and doesn’t need a lot of cost for maintainance. Oil palm plantation generaly located in peatland, which a type of land that is generally not flammable. However, the characteristic of oild palms are they require a lot of water from water reservoir below the surface ot the peatlands. Other than that, Indonesia is a country with a long dry season, which causing the peatland to become drier and prone to forest fire. A dry pitlands will become vulnarable to fire and the fire will easily spread. Therefore, the indonesia government issue a regulation requiring oil palm plantations with pitland to monitor the groundwater level of peatlands. Therefore we need a peatland groundwater level monitoring system that can automatically measure and transmit data remotely. To make this system, a water level sensor that is durable and resistant to the acidity of peatland water must be used. To meet these criteria, the sensor used will use the RS485 communication protocol because this protocol uses the lowest power. To transmit data remotely, a communication protocol with LoRa-WAN technology is needed, which is a way of sending data to a gateway using radio frequency technology. This technology will connect the data from the sensor to the server and have a long transmission distance.
