Summary: | PLTU X has the largest power capacity in Indonesia that up to 3,400 MW or about 46.51% of the electricity production of the Java-Bali system. The main fuel that used by PLTU X for electricity production process is subbituminous coal with 0.408% sulfur content. Sulfur dioxide emission that produced from coal burning process need to be concern because air pollution controll system for sulfur dioxide in PLTU X unit 6 is not installed yet. Referring to the Regulation of Environment and Forestry Minister Number 15 of 2019 concerning Emission Quality Standards for Thermal Power Plants, it is stated that the standard SO2 emission quality is 550 mg/Nm3. The result of Continuous Emission Monitoring System (CEMS) PLTU X unit 6 analysis data was found about 15% of the measured SO2 concentration exceed the emission quality standard. By using stoichiometric approach, the SO2 concentration value was obtained 1971.95 mg/Nm3. To reduce the SO2 concentration to 400 mg/Nm3, an air pollution control system with 80% minimum efficiency value is needed. Seawater Flue Gas Desulfurization is the selected air pollution controll system tah have absorbtion efficiency up to 98% and have advantages that not requiring additional chemicals and the SO2 absorption process does not produce by-products so that investment and operational costs are much cheaper. |
