Summary: | Education is one of the most basic ways to improve the quality of people, but the
quality of education in schools in Indonesia is not evenly distributed. Inequality in
the quality of education in Indonesia can be seen from the uneven quality of
buildings and school facilities in schools in Indonesia. At present, the curriculum
in Indonesia has been updated, using the 2013 curriculum. The 2013 curriculum
was created with the aim of balancing students' hard skills and softskills, so that
the aim of the education doesn’t not focus on results only, but also focus on the
learning process and the attitude of students. Classes and facilities in it need to
support learning activities that use this curriculum, so that the expectations and
goals of this curriculum can be achieved in education in Indonesia. This research
was conducted with the aim to determine the condition of 1st grade class in an
elementary school and analyze how the existing facilities support the learning
process with the 2013 curriculum competencies, as well as to formulate design
recommendations that are needed to improve the condition of the classrooms. This
research was conducted with quantitative methods, through observations and
interviews with homeroom teachers to determine the condition of the interior of
classrooms and find out student activities at school, and also with literature studies
to study the 2013 curriculum and to study aspects of interior design that are ideal
for classrooms. Through this research, it was found that all the facilities in the class
have a relationship with 2013 curriculum competencies and can support learning
activities with 2013 curriculum competencies. Those facilites are tables and chairs,
blackboards, bulletin boards, clocks, classroom organization boards, posters of
Pancasila symbols, shelves, and visual image posters. However, not all classes in
the observation have all of these facilities and there are facilities that have different
design models, between one class and another, such as desks for example, and it
can cause problems for classes that have facilities with older models. The existence
of facilities in the classroom also needs to pay attention to the overall classroom
design, so as to create a good atmosphere for learning activities. |
