Medan Urban Development Project (MUDP) is an infrastructure development project for Medan City, one of them is wastewater infrastructure to increase access to sanitation services and living conditions for the community. The wastewater treatment area of Medan City is divided into three, one of them is Region I - Eastern Medan, which consists of Cemara Asri Residence and zone 1 - zone 18. Cemara Asri Residence and zones 1- zone 12 have been installed to the existing Cemara WWTP. Planning Cemara 2 WWTP aims to develop services for zone 13 - zone 18 which is planned to be built in the remaining area of the existing Cemara WWTP ± 1,83 ha. The planning period is 20 years with 2 construction phases. Phase one (2023-2032) with design discharge 29.250 m³/day and phase two (2033-2042) with design discharge 87.042 m³/day. The treatment unit is determined based on influent characteristic and considerations of technical, environmental and economic aspects. Determination method is based on evaluation of the existing Cemara WWTP system, literature studies and interviews with stakeholders and experts. So the selected treatment units are screen, grit chambers, equalization tank, primary sedimentation tank, moving bed biofilm reactor, clarifiers, gravity thickener and sludge drying bed. text
