Description
Summary:Forest and Land Fire (Karhutla) is a condition when a forest is engulfed in a fire resulting in damage to the forest and or forest resources which results in economic losses and or environmental value. Nearly 99% of forest and land fires in Indonesia are caused by human activities, both intentionally and unintentionally. Only 1% of them occur naturally. This forestry phenomenon which occurs time to time in various regions in Indonesia proves that Indonesia is in an emergency state of forest and land fires. The impact of this forest and land fire is no joke. Hundreds of thousands of hectares of forest land that was once full of trees are now gone. This situation is no exception for Indonesia’s endemic trees which are currently in danger of extinction. Forest and Land Fire will only threaten further the existence of endemic trees that supposed to be protected. This phenomenon finally became the main inspiration for the writer’s final project. In the process, various body textures and color explorations were carried out with handbuilding techniques to get a visual work that represents the condition of 3 (three) Indonesian endemic trees that were burnt due to forest and land fires.
