Summary: | The Sustainability problems of water availability for domestic needs commonly happened in many development regions in Indonesia, including in Batam Island. The growth of the people alongside with the economics activities, changes in usage, land cover and also the inefficiency of managing the water usage have been a challenges to ensure the provision of water in Batam. A massive strategic plan is needed, in order to encounter with those challenges is by Water Mix methods. Water Mix is a system to utilize the whole domestic water needs through all the water sources based on holistic approach by optimizing both the natural and non-natural ways to integrates it into drinking water supply system (SPAM). The outcome of maintaining the integrated water management is to ensure the availability of raw water supply by managing rainwater and waste water recycling combine as Non-Conventional water sources to keep the continuous of natural water sources. The Goals of this research is to identified the utilization potential of alternatives water resources based on the consumption characteristics and to optimizing Water Mix. The datas of the research are compiled through the observation on the field, questionnaire distribution, and secondary data from the related institutions to be analyzed and simulated it into dynamic model of urban water management which is will be a strategic approach to handle the limited of water supply in Batam Island in the future. The results of this research hopefully will be the reference to make a strategic policy of managing the raw water supply needs in Batam Island and to be replicated in some regions in Indonesia who face the same challenges. |
