Description
Summary:Tourism has an important role in boosting the economy in Indonesia because it has a variety of natural tourism potentials but it is located in a disaster-prone area so that the sustainability of tourism in Indonesia is at risk of being affected by potential disasters. Gili Trawangan destination is one of the islands in the Gili Tramena National Tourism Strategic Area (KSPN) which was affected during the 2018 Lombok earthquake. The earthquake in Gili Trawangan caused tourism activities to be hampered and had an impact on regional income. Disaster risk in tourist destinations can be minimized with disaster management in tourist destinations. Based on regulation no. 24 of 2007 disaster management is a series of efforts covering the establishment of development policies at risk of disasters occurrence, disaster prevention activities, emergency response and rehabilitation. The purpose of this study is to determine implementation and strategies for improving disaster management of tourism destinations in Gili Trawangan against the 2018 Lombok earthquake. Implementation of disaster management for tourist destinations in Gili Trawangan is reviewed based on 3 stages of disaster management, namely pre-disaster (consisting of disaster prevention and mitigation, and preparedness), during a disaster which focuses on emergency response efforts, as well as after a disaster which focuses on recovery. The data processing method for this research is mixed-method analysis which quantifies qualitative data, which consists of qualitative analysis, content analysis, coding analysis and qualitative descriptive analysis for identifying disaster management in Gili Trawangan tourist destinations based on interviews, data secondary data, news collection through web crawling and literature review, and the use of scoring analysis on disaster management to identify strategies for improving disaster management. This study concludes that implementation of disaster management in Gili Trawangan tourist destinations for the 2018 Lombok earthquake is considered receptive or supportive due to a lack of preparation during the predisaster period but the responses given by relevant stakeholders are good enough to overcome the impact of the disaster. Therefore, there is a need for improvement in disaster management, especially during the pre-disaster period.
