What is of concern here is the rapid growth of oil palm plantations in Indonesia. Based on BPS data in 2017, Indonesia is the largest palm oil producing country in the world. As much as 25-26% of the harvest is empty bunches. Only 10% of the EFB has been used for boiler fuel and compost, and the rest is still waste. One of the very important materials of OPEFB which can be used into other products of high value is its fiber which can be processed into woven fabrics. The potential of OPEFB has not been well assessed and there has not been much development of fiber from TKKS in Indonesia. OPEFB fibers have coarse characteristics, but there are single types of fibers that can have consistency of size and strength. Based on these characteristics, OPEFB fibers are suitable to be used as textile fabrics with the weaving technique. Through experiments on the properties and characteristics, it is known that the development opportunities towards products are known to be used as woven fabrics. through this experiment, it becomes the background for the development of OPEFB fiber weaving into home decor products. text |
