Description
Summary:The Gedebage transfer station of Bandung City functions to reduce the waste volume that transported to the landfill using compacting techniques by compacting machine due to the long hauling distance reach 27,4 km, thereby minimizing the number of trucks rations and reducing the operational costs of transportation. But in fact, the waste management in Gedebage transfer station has not been effective because there is no sorting of waste according to the type and the waste treatment facilities that are not used. Re-design of the Gedebage transfer station needed to increase waste processing to be of economic value and to minimize the operational costs of transportation. The concept of re-design of the Gedebage transfer station is to optimize existing facilities and complement those that have damaged and those that are not yet available. Gedebage transfer station will serve three districts, there are Panyileukan Sub-district, Gedebage Sub-district, and Cinambo Sub-district, with the population projection in 2040 reached 273.589 people using linear regression. The waste generation rate of Bandung City in 2040 will reach 0,516 kg/person/day or 0,0012 m3/person/day, thus the total waste input Gedebage transfer station that sourced from household and non-household in 2040 will reach 97,828 tons/day or 224,982 m3/day. The waste management system is centralized at the Gedebage transfer station and will be sorting food waste and garden waste from other compositions from the source. The waste management system in Gedebage transfer station based on moderate scenario that the waste management rate constant on 70% in 2025 until 2040, consist of with windrow composting methods for easily decomposed waste, and physical methods such as compaction of paper and metal, crushing until drying plastic, dan residues compaction. The total amount of waste brought to the landfill in 2040 is 43,05 tons/day. The total area of the Gedebage transfer station is m2.
