Description
Summary:Abstract :
Islamic banking is a new service sector in Indonesia, that is started by Indonesian Muamalat Bank (BMI). Islamic banking especially BMI has grown rapidly with excellent performance even in the economic crisis situation

Since most of Indonesian people are muslims, the market potential of Islamic banking is very huge. Nevertheless its share in Indonesian banking business is very little (less than 1% related to the conventional banking).

Therefore, the problem or the task of BMI is how to make it is more attractive to ununat so that they become its customer.

Beside that, the existence and performance of BMI are influenced by several strategic factors, external as well as internal factors. The examples of external factors are economic condition, social, political and security situation, law enforcement, government policy ect. Whereas internal factors are finance, human resources, infrastructure, ect. Those factors affected to the business positively (strengths-opportunities) or negatively (weakness-treats).

Therefore, an appropriate strategic business has to be established in order that BMI could exis and survive especially in free market competition.

This thesis was prepared to answer these problems. BCO method, GE Approach, GE Matrix, SWOT Analysis and TOWS/SWOT Matrix were used to formulate dan propose a business strategy that is needed by BMI. The formulation and proposal of business strategi are divided into four groups: Strengths-Opportunities (SO) Strategy, Weakness-Opportunities (WO) Strategy, Strengths-Treats (ST) Strategy, and Weakness- reats (W T) -Strategy.
