Summary:Flood is a natural phenomena which has a high damaging effect due to high rainfall intensity and insufficienty water body (river or drainage system) to drain and discharge water. River Langsa‘s water level fluctuation is caused by draught in dry season and flood in wet season. Fluctuation is worsening along with the change of land use of forest to palm oil plantation and settlements/residential areas. Climate change also gives a huge impact globally and causes extreme rain condition. The main reasons of flood in river langsa which results in poor effect on the environment are erosion rate, high sedimentation rate, increase of runoff and settlements in river border/bank with inadequate river capacity to hold water. The objective of this paper is to plan techinal alternatives for flood control in langsa watershed by doing normalization and building levee with HEC RAS 5.0.5 software. This calculation is based on 10 years return periode flood discharge which is reduced with the planning of Krueng Langsa reservoir. All of the planning above is expected to solve flood problem in accordance with the flood discharge plan.
