As a new port terminal, planning of water resources aspect such as the drainage system and berthing facility needs to be designed to keep the port operational level at its best. The drainage system design objective is to discharge rainwater to the sea, so it will not flood the pier area. The design of berthing facility also must ensure that designated vessel can enter and leave port area safely even in low tide condition. Drainage system design is based on 20 years historical data obtained BMKG site as the secondary data. Obtained data is processed statistically with Normal Distribution, Log Normal Distribution, Log Pearson III Distribution, or Gumbel Distribution Method. The system is designed to accommodate rainwater with 5 years of return period. Rainfall intensity is calculated with Mononobe equation, and Rational method is used to calculate the runoff discharge. Drainage channel capacity is calculated with Manning equation, and then evaluated with the actual discharge rate. Rectangle shaped cross section pre-casted on concrete slab with steel grating cover is used for the system channel. Berthing facility that is designed includes pier orientation, shipping lane, port basin, turning basin, and the elevation of pier needed. Natural factors that is considered during design process comprise of wind, wave, tide, and bathymetry character. Based on designated vessel dimension and considered natural factors, the location, orientation, and dimension of facility is obtained. text |
