Summary: | Gold is a metal that is widely used in everyday life, especially for jewelry. In general, gold and its associations are locked in quartz particles and other impurities. The criterion value for the concentration of gold and its association with impurity particles is > 2.5 so that it is easy to separate. In this case, the concentration of gravity is one method of processing gold ore. Processing with gravity concentration can increase gold content. This treatment is also environmentally friendly and has low operating costs so it can be considered. Common gravity tools for processing gold are sluice box, shaking table, jig, spiral, etc. Size is one of the parameters affecting gold ore processing. In this review, we studied the effect of grade and recovery in sluice box, jig, shaking table, and Knelson concentrators.
Prior to the core of the review, the collection of sources was carried out from several books, scientific journal, and other similar papers. Literature was obtained using the keywords gold ore, gravity concentration, shaking table, jig, sluice box, and Knelson concentrator. From all literature obtained 40 pieces for review. Literature was criticized and conclusions drawn to answer the purpose of review. Then the results obtained were analyzed to produce useful suggestions in the future. The parameter discussed was the size fraction of the feed. The results of each experiments were grade and recovery from gold ore using a sluice box, jig, shaking table, and Knelson concentrator.
The results of the review showed that the variation of the size fraction of the feed on the sluice box, shaking table, jig and Knelson concentrator affected the value of gold content and recovery. The fraction of the feed size used varies based on the literature that had been conducting experiments. The feed size fraction shows different effects from several literatures. The effect of each size fraction could be concluded in the form of the optimum size fraction in the processing of certain tools. The combination of several gravity devices also affects the value of the obtained content at a particular feed size fraction. |
