Every city has historic area as a pioneer and gave identity to the city. As the times developed, the historical area became part of the development of the cuty with a variety of new needs that continued to emerge. The emergence of new buildings in the historic area does not seem to blend with the environment, such as standing alone and not having a spatial and visual relationship with the environment. In developed countries, many new buildings have built, but the emergence of new buildings can actually stand side by side with old buildings, supporting the physical and function of the old buildings without reducing the character of the area. The Nederlandsch Indische Gas Maatschappij / Sleko Gas Fabriek area is a historic industrial area or an old industrial heritage in Semarang City which is currently owned by PT PGN and is experiencing degradation in building quality. Some of the old buildings are no longer used because they no longer produce gas and do not meet factory building standards. In addition, there are still a few industrial heritage in Indonesia that have been developed and utilized into new functions. As abroad, there have been many examples of former industrial buildings that were developed and even combined with the addition of new buildings to support old buildings.
