The company was asked to work on a mining project in the highlands of Mimika Regency, Papua Province, as material for dam construction. The dam is located in the lowlands on the west and east sides of the Ajkwa River. The materials needed for dam construction are gravel and boulder of alluvium lithology (Qa) which are available as resources. To meet the material needs for the dam construction, it is necessary to design and plan the mining of the materials that will be transported to material storage location Run of Mine (ROM) and stockpile. Research will be carried out related to the design of the open quarry mining method using shovel and trucks and calculating the annual production that will be required in the construction. Based on the results of the quarry design, 14 quarries were found in 5 different resource locations, namely Kalikopi, Borrow East, Borrow West, NEL, and NEL Extended with total mining reserves of 106.3 million m3. The average annual output reaches 5 million m3/ year. In addition, to achieve the production target, research is also carried out related to determining the need for digger equipment and hauler equipment. Digger equipment using excavators Backhoe Komatsu PC750 with averaged six (6) units per year. Hauler equipment using dumptruck Hino FM 260 JD with average four (4) units in one fleet or an average of 24 units per year. text
