INSTITUT TEKNOLOGI BANDUNG https://digilib.itb.ac.id/gdl/view/51636 In 2015, Bali Province was chosen by ESDM ministry to become National Region of Clean Energy (Kawasan Nasional Energi Bersih) yet it still lack of clean energy utilization. Therefore, in order to increase the clean energy mix, an attempt to explore new source of electricity is necessary. It was hypothesized that Selat Toyapakeh contain a promising tidal stream resource, with a high stream in a long period. A simulation of Hydrodynamic modelling and power production was conducted to evaluate this potential with an aim to meet energy supply shortage that predicted will happened in 2045, around 5.12 GWh annually. Based on the analysis, point -8.7181, 115.4440 is the optimal location for the tidal stream energy farm, which has the median value stream speed of 1.59 m/s. This location is also have at least 52% of higher than 1.5 m/s stream as well as at least 70% of higher than 1 m/s stream. By following EPRI Methodology for Estimating Tidal Current Energy Resource and Power Production by TISEC Devices, Gen5 KHPS unit, developed by Verdant Power, will be yielding 28.35 kW mean power production, equivalent to 0.25 GWh electricity in a year. To meet the demand, 21 units of Gen5 KHPS will be needed. Financial analysis, with 25 year period of investment and 3.60% interest rate, resulting levelized cost of energy of Rp 6,100/kWh. This cost of energy higher than national BPP nominal and regional BPP nominal of Tiga Nusa distribution system, in other word the energy cost is relatively high in Indonesia. Nearly 46% of energy cost was spent by turbine fabrication, that can be concluded as a major cause of the high cost of electricity production in this tidal stream turbine farm. Despite of the high prices, it is clear that Selat Toyapakeh holds a promising resource of tidal stream energy. text
