Summary: | One of the main characteristics of open-pit mining is the presence of climatic effects on mining activities such as rainfall and wind direction that can affect workplace conditions, equipment performance and mining productivity. Another thing that can be affected by climate is mine drainage planning, which is it requires rainfall data recorded by rainfall stations in the mining area. Batu Hijau mine in West Sumbawa Region, West Nusa Tenggara Province, is located right on the two watershed boundaries, namely DAS Sejorong and DAS Tongoloka. Beside that, Batu Hijau mine is surrounded by hills. Those cause an interesting research hypothesis on whether there are differences in the characteristics of the rain at Batu Hijau min if it divided into two clusters based on each watershed boundaries. Another thing that causes interesting research is to determine the rain distribution based on the characteristics of the rain at Batu Hijau mine by looking at the morphological and regional climatic conditions. Based on the results of the Independent T-test and Mann Whitney test, it shows that there is no significant difference in rain characteristics at Batu Hijau mine. The rain characteristics at Batu Hijau mine is based on elevation and influenced by the Australian monsoon region. |
